Clarification

I feel like I need to take a moment to clarify something critical to this blog:

“What is a blog?”

A blog is, of course, simply a tool that simplifies publishing to the Web. It is an application that you use. It can be used to create websites of all stripes: static sites, direct marketing sales pages, online sales catalogs…the list is virtually limitless as to what you can do with a blog.

But for our purposes here, a blog is an application that allows you to talk to your audience…and lets them talk back via comments and trackbacks. Of course, you can still have static pages, a shopping cart and whatever else you want to have. But as far as this site is concerned, a blog is, first and foremost, a conversation.

I’m not saying there is anything wrong with the other ways people use blog applications. They are remarkably versatile. Heck, I even have a few posts planned for using blogs to own search results for long-tail keywords, among other things.

But for the most part, the conversation here is centered around how to engage your customers in a conversation that will result in a better bottom line for you.

Hope this helps clear things up!
