Wellesley Grad Complains Obama Popularity Is Ruining Her Planned Coronation

Hillary Clinton took time out today from taking limo and helicopter rides across Pennsylvania to expound further on her charge that Barack Obama was an “elitist” who was out of touch with the average voter.

“I mean, has he ever made $100,000 in cattle futures like most of us regular American citizens?” Clinton asked.

Pressing her point, Clinton noted that stores like Wal-Mart, “where common people shop,” sell pantsuits but do not carry the starched 100% cotton Brooks Brothers’ shirts favored by Obama.

“Not that I would ever buy any of my clothes there,” she added.

Hillary used the furor around Obama’s remarks to further emphasize her ties to the common folk saying she knew many of her daughter’s classmates who had limited access to their trust funds while going to school abroad at Oxford.

“Can you imagine the kind of fortitude it takes to deal with that kind of hardship?” Ms. Clinton asked reporters as she and her campaign entourage left the waitress a $4.17 tip on a $350 dinner tab.

    Hi, Mark:

This is a nice post. I’m always amazed when the politicians running for higher office paint themselves as men or women “of the people.” Our current President Bush did this in his elections, especially against Kerry. Amazing what politicians can get away with. Then again, Bush has also painted himself as a sort of war hero, even though he avoided serving in Vietnam while Kerry earned a Purple Heart. What a trick that was.
