Clinton Portis backtracks from being moron and President of Michael Vick Fan Club

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

What can you say about this?

Clinton Portis

It must be great to be great.

Maybe it must be great to be so rich you can be oblivious of everything.

Maybe it must be great to be ignorant and rich.

Maybe you would just be Clinton Portis and not really know anything at all.

Seem harsh?

Get this; Clinton is backing Michael Vick’s right to have fighting dogs. By the way, that is a right that sends you to prison, because it is a felony.

It appears that Clinton just can’t keep his mouth shut.

On the topic of Vick facing possible charges for dog fighting, Portis opened with, “I think people should mind their business, you know. I don’t know if he was fighting dogs or not, but it’s his property, his dog, if that’s what he wants to do, do it.”

When apprised by the startled interviewer that dog fighting is a felony, Portis was fairly incredulous. It seems to be the first he’s heard of that development within our justice system. But he’s ready with a rebuttal.

“It can’t be too bad of a crime. There’s a lot of stuff that’s crimes, you know. It’s killers on the loose over here and you want to hunt down Michael Vick over fighting some dogs.” source

After several chances to back out of this mess, Clinton follows with this incredible statement.

“I think behind closed doors the same people who do all the judging are probably some of the harshest people around. They’re Internet predators and everything else.”

Yes, the parallel between Judges and Internet predators has been well established. Are you kidding me?

It just gets sillier from there as Clinton now buries himself in the hole he dug with this remark.

“Then I think he got cheated. You take a positive role model…and put him behind bars for no reason, over a dog fight.”

Positive role model? Wow, this interview just gets nuttier and nuttier. Was it his airport antics, flipping off the fans, or throwing coaches under the bus that made Vick a positive role model? I forget.

When my ship comes in and it is as big as Clinton Portis’s ship, let’s hope that my stupidity does not also increase to the same size!

Of course, every good screw up deserves a retraction.

Later in the day on Monday, Portis tried to back down from his comments, issuing a statement that was posted on the Redskins’ Web site.

“In the recent interview I gave concerning dog fighting, I want to make it clear I do not take part in dog fighting or condone dog fighting in any manner.”

  1. someone says:

its a shame how we focus on vick so much! stop being races and grow up! portis is right its his life! i guess every time we run over a dog with a car we should go to jail! or everytime people hunt deers we should too! the fact remain vick is a role model and he has to deal with this society we call free! he is a blackQB that was first draft pick! some black child is saying i want to be just likke him! minus the stuff humans do according to the enviroment they grew up in! people make mistakes its apart of being human! but all in all if u really gave a care about dog fighting stop eating chicken! animal lovers! if u really meet this man u would understand he is a good person with a good heart! but for others who just see from the outside will never know Vick! lastly i want to say nothing can break a good man down! Nothing! so you white people who want to bring black people down think again he will be back on top because GOD gave him a talent not you!

  2. James says:

you forgot 1 important detail. dog fighting is against the law.
oh, maybe one other thing, just because it is a black man and it seems unfair does not make it racist.
How is that eating people thing working for you?

  3. somebody says:

i not the one trying to put him in jail so i eat all the ckn i want! and dont be nieve it is racist

  4. James says:

let’s see, break law, go to jail, yep, that is racist.
    not.

  5. you=donkey says:

try getting this through your thick skull:

    MAYBE THE LAW ISN’T RIGHT

maybe that’s what portis is talking about. just because the law says it’s a crime doesn’t mean it is necessarily wrong. james, you are a donkey.

  6. James says:

    hee haw,
    everyone gets their opinion.
aww, my dog just chewed my sock, better bash his head against the wall until he bleeds to death. no wait, that would be sick!

  7. Me says:

Honestly I don’t feel as if anyone is defending Dog Fighting in itself… however the pont was there are way more unlawful things happening in the world that are looked over everyday! And we witness these things in our neighborhoods and lives… And to make the issue of fighting dogs as big as a murder case is rediculus… I won’t say it’s racist, however it’s funny how this black man’s story has take news stations across the country by storm… and they spend less time speaking on positive and missing children! yes if you break the law u should be punished… but even a blind man could se how this mess has been blown way out of proportion!

  8. James says:

Maybe the public made too much news out of this, but what Vick did was against the law. When a public celebrity breaks the law it is always blown out of proportion by the public, but there is no doubt that what Vick did was cruel and against the law.
