Coda Preview

Panic is set to release Coda, it’s new developer tool on Monday. At least that’s what the little bird told me. However it seems that MacApper has gotten its hands on it sooner than most of us. But it’s ok, since Miles Evans of MacApper graciously wrote about it. He gives us a pretty good review of Panic’s new baby.
Coda is a web developers dream come true. Well at least that’s what it looks like based on the review. It’s an FTP, terminal, code editor all rolled into one neatly designed app, in true Panic way. With Coda, I can create my html, css, javascript, etc and upload it to my web server in one application. I don’t have to keep multiple apps open to do that. I can also edit files on my server and have a live preview of the changes I’m making.
From what I’ve read, Coda’s got me excited. I mean Dreamweaver does this as well but I feel it’s far too complex and hard to use plus not to mention the hefty price tag. So if Coda is priced right, this could really be an excellent web dev app.
But enough blabbing, I’ll let you read the review and see for yourself. As for me, I’m eagerly waiting for it to be Monday. I wanna give this baby a spin.

I have gotten a chance to play with the app and I even purchased it right afterwards. I think it trumps Dreamweaver in being more lightweight. I really only hung onto Dreamweaver due to integrated FTP.
