Coffee Break

coffee1(businessandblogging.com) Welcome to another Sunday Coffee Break. I hope you take a moment to relax and enjoy some of the interesting items we’ve found this week. And as always, please share any items you’ve found in your own web wanderings.

First, a look at the morning papers – the LA Times’ Ann Brenoff wrote an article titled, Realtor Blogs Help Reel in Clients, Boost Sales. She has lots of examples and first-hand stories about how blogs are helping realtors connect with their customers and stand out in an increasingly tough market.

Laura and I were excited to see John Cass of PR Communications publish a review of a Fortune 500’s blog – Avaya – a Telecom Giant with Bell Lab Roots. John used a similar format and criteria to the one we started here, which is great because it will make it easier to compare blogs across reviews.

I’m a big fan of BlogTalkRadio as well as of Ted Demopoulos. Imagine my delight when I found out that Ted was recently interviewed by Wayne Hurlbert on how to build an effective internet presence and why it’s now required for success in business and in your personal life. There’s a whole 60 minute interview that you can listen to now or download for your convenience. And don’t forget that Ted has recently written a free ebook Effective Internet Presence.

You may have had some problems getting into Business and Blogging earlier this week, or in fact, many of the blogs in the B5media business channel. We had a few server problems which frustrated many readers and bloggers. All is better now and we have been assured that it will stay that way.

So, be sure to take a look at any of Laura’s and my posts you might have missed:

Wednesday: Business Blogs – Demonstrate Your Unique Style a fun little article that takes a light-hearted look at a variety of vino blogs – and makes a compelling point about what it means to be unique.

Thursday: Business and Blogging Bookshelf: BlogWild! A Guide for Small Business Blogging An informative review of Andy Wibbel’s new how-to and why-to book for beginning bloggers, with a few of Laura’s own opinions added for good measure.

And just in case there are still any bruised feelings over the server struggles, please read the apology in poetry written by B5media Business Channel’s very own Miki Saxon. I’ll leave you with the first stanza.

Have you been trying to read our blogs?
Have you found the traffic clogged?
Did the error messages confuse you?
Are you so mad that we might lose you?

To see more of Miki’s poetic side, and hear the rest of our request for your ongoing support, please visit her blog leadershipturn.com.

  1. Thanks Liz for the kind words!
My ebook is still available, and I’ll be rereleasing a new version this week. Just some minor tweaks like a new cover, pictures, and I even found a typo :)

I love the Sunday Coffee Break idea. Unfortunately for me, with 3 little kids who have Sunday morning hockey. ski lessons, and sometimes violin, getting online Sunday is usually tough!

    Hi Ted

Let me know if I need to change the link to get to the newer version when it’s ready! Can’t wait to see it – and I didn’t notice any typos in the previous version! But I guess that’s because I was so caught up in all the good content!!

I know what you mean about Sunday mornings when your kids are little. Mine are grown now and I guess I just tend to envision people taking it slow, sipping some coffee, maybe with a splash of irish cream, mulling over posts, reflecting on the week just past and serenely contemplating the week ahead….lol, right??

    Liz

  3. Liz, I’m sure that will happen me me — eventually too. Today it was out the door by 7:30AM for hockey.

I did bring coffee for both myself and my 5 year old, who LOVES coffee, although I insist she has lots of milk and cream with it :)

    Hey Ted

Just think – for the rest of her life, when she’s an adult and pours herself a cup of coffee, as she adds the milk, she’ll see your face, feel a warm glow and get a smile….it will be those memories of sharing with her dad as much as the caffeine that will see her through some tough meetings!

(or whatever career she ends up in!!)

    :) Liz

Thanks for the mention, your format was helpful, though I think I have some additional ideas about the review format, maybe we could chat and discuss.

  6. Liz Fuller says:

    Hi John

I’d really be interested in hearing your ideas. We’ll be doing more reviews and it would be great to enhance the format. Please shoot me an email with your ideas when you have time.

    Liz

  7. Miki says:

Liz, Thanks for your kind words regarding my “poetry.” Much nicer than “regrettable rhyme” from another source:)

  8. Laura says:

    Hi Miki!

I think that we all appreciated the humor and creativity that went into your poem!
