Collectible Item to Sell on eBay – Hull Little Red Riding Hood Cookie Jar

Collectibles can bring big money on eBay, but you have to know what you are doing. I have some personal knowledge about this item, the Hull Little Red Riding Hood cookie jar. I have my grandmother’s cookie jar in my home, and my mother always told me it was valuable. I won’t ever sell it because it has great sentimental value and reminds me of my childhood. My mother gave this cookie jar to my grandmother for her birthday in 1948. It still has the Maas Brothers price tag on the bottom. Once I became involved in eBay selling, I was curious about how much the cookie jar is worth.
You may find one of these in your travels to estate sales, garage sales, or antique shops. You will see some variations in the pattern on the skirt, the basket, the flowers, and other small details. The version with the gold pattern on the skirt is the most valuable. I was thrilled to discover that the one I have is worth around $1,200 because of its age and rare coloring. This article by Barbara Crews outlines all of the details and values of the different versions.
Be careful with these as there are a lot of cookie jar fakes. Replicas of cookie jars are as common as replicas of handbags, so verify the history of the item if possible, or take it to an antique dealer for their input before listing it on eBay. I’ve seen the Little Red Riding Hood cookie jar sell for as much as $400 on eBay. I’m going to keep mine and pass it on to my daughter, but this is definitely an item to keep an eye out for if you are seeking collectibles to sell on eBay.
