It’s no secret that job outlook isn’t a positive one right now. According to a recent study by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), it is estimated that employers will hire 22% fewer new college graduates from the 2009 class than they did from last year’s class.

This could be the worst hiring climate for college grads since 2002, when the dot-com bust and 9/11 attacks sent hiring plummeting 36%. If the projections hold true, this will break the string of positive college grad hiring reports every year from 2004 through 2008.
According the report, finance graduates will face the biggest obstacles. It is projected that new hires will fall 70.9% in finance fields and 31.3% in business services.
If you are graduating in June, try to get in a company with an internship or entry level position now and move your way up in the business upon graduation. Take a wide variety of courses to best prepare yourself to enter the workforce in any field–even out of our major area of study.
