NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
It was the sixties, a crazy time to be sure, your gallivanting author was but a boy and crazy about sports, especially football.
Freedom was not my cause; sports were. One of my passions was to collect covers from Sports Illustrated and hang them on my wall. We did not have the internet, cable, or all these magazines. There was Sports Illustrated and it ruled.
There was this guy that played for the Baltimore Colts. Yeah, this was before the Colts snuck out of town. His name was John Unitas. He was already a living legend. There were these black… high tops that he wore. They made him look slow, but they were so cool. We all wanted them.
The Greatest Game Ever Played
You need to know about John Unitas, because he played in ‘The Greatest Game Ever Played’. The game that put the NFL on the map. The game was held in Yankee Stadium and it had a 45 million person TV audience.
John Unitas has passed away, but the legend lives on! John is in the Hall of Fame now and it is your job to pass his legend on to your son as it is being passed to you now.
NFL Football Fan Question Did you ever get to see John Unitas play ball?
As always, any NFL related comments are welcome.
