Colts will win with the Brain, No Bears will win with the Heart

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Mike Ditka unhappy with the Squibster’s pick!

Mike Ditka (AP) Mike Ditka called me up and threatened to smack me upside the head if my pick is not with the Bears.

You will find the Squibster rooting for the Bears, but my Pick is the Colts!

Ouch. Geez, Mike, that hurt.

Here is how it gets broken down:

Ohhh, what a headache. My brain says the Colts will win, but my heart says the Bears will win.

Never bet with your heart!
But doesn’t it take heart to win?

Use your brain to predict the winner!
But don’t you have to weigh the… intangibles of who has the most heart (see ‘68 Tigers!)

Ohh, my aching head. Think it is starting to bruise.

Experts Opinion

Vic Carucci writing for NFL.com goes with the Colts. He reasons the Colts can run inside, pass to the outside, and hit the tightend. If the Colts score, it puts the pressure on Rex Grossman and he will struggle to handle it.

Your intrepid author’s brain goes to work

It’s Colts with Execution on offense.
It’s Bears with Agression on defense.

Pass the painkiller (Scotch). Ahhh, thanks, Mike, that is better.

Peyton is the Man. No, the Bears Defense will stop him.
Urlacher is the man. No, the Colts Offense will throw over him.
Grossman will screw up. No, the Colts defense is too weak.
Devin Hester will make the big play. No, Vinatieri is the best pressure kicker and will kick the winning field goal.

Mike, we better make it a double. Ouch, not two smacks to my head. A double Scotch, Mike, a double Scotch! Geez!

Use the Lions

Hmm, how would the teams do against my Lions?
Colts 270 Lions 0 (see Joe Falls Jets vs. Colts Super Bowl III prediction)
Bears 50 Lions 0 (but every Lion on offense goes on injured reserve, because Urlacher told them to)

Actually the Bears would have scored 270 points too, but they let Rex Grossman throw 25 interceptions. The Lions punter had to be hospitalized from exhaustion.

NFL Football Important Betting Disclaimer Don’t forget, your intrepid author is about 6 and 20 picking big games this year, so don’t bet on my say so!

Oh, least you think my picking stinks, my record for picking Lions games was 13 – 3 this year. (Just had to pick them to lose every game. They managed to win 3)

Win or lose, just be careful about watching Bear’s games with Mike!

NFL Football Fan Question Who are you picking to win and, more important, how did you arrive at that decision?

As always, any NFL Football related comments are welcome.

  1. [...] It was surprising in a way, because the Squibster had picked Indy to win, but, because the Bears are in my Lions division, your gallivanting author was rooting for the Bears for the first 2 and one half quarters. [...]
