Comcast is widely believed to be in talks with General Electric Co to acquire a majority stake in NBC Universal in a move that would combine Comcast’s cable assets, $4 billion to $6 billion in cash, and NBC Universal to create a new content company. The new company would include TV broadcasting, cable networks, movie and theme park assets.
People close to the deal have stated that Comcast would own 51 percent of the new company and General Electric would own the rest of the $30 billion company. Roberts has remained optimistic about his company’s plans to acquire new content, but he has not yet released any specific comments about a possible deal with General Electric and NBC Universal.
