Comedy is Not Pretty

Earlier today, I wrote a post titled “The Best Argument for Intelligent Design”, where I intended to poke a little fun at the idea that we could all be living in a simulated universe, one where laws of physics and the limits of our ability to measure could be used as ‘proof’ that there is an intelligent designer.

At the time I wrote it, it made me smile, but that was because I knew what I had in my head when I wrote it. As the comments and emails started coming in however, I realized I had missed the mark and people were thinking I believed that. After re-reading it, I could see why. I scrambled to put up a disclaimer and then began to edit some of my sentences, but it kinda stopped being funny to me by then.

So, I deleted the post.

Sometimes, it’s just best to let a joke die. You can’t hit the target every time, I guess.

Argh ! You deleted just as I posted a very important question… I wanted to be the maid of honor. :( Snap !

    Hi Frederica,

Sorry about that but that post was a train wreck headed straight for me. I need to be very careful when I make fun of stuff to make sure it’s obvious that’s what I’m doing.

The last thing I wanted was to spend post after post explaining a joke that wasn’t funny.

Anyway, to answer your question, it’s ok with me, but it’s ultimately Julie’s call ;-)
