Coming This Friday: “Dance Flick”

I like spoof movies, for the most part, especially when the Wayans brothers are involved. Therefore, I’ve got high hopes for Dance Flick, which opens in theaters tomorrow. Obviously, something like this isn’t going to win an academy award (and doesn’t have a chance at winning the box office race with Terminator Salvation opening tomorrow) but I do believe it could be funny.
While the movie takes a jab at films about dancing in general, it does seem to be most specifically making fun of Save The Last Dance (I happen to really love that movie).
The plot (do these movies actually have plots?) revolves around street dancer, Thomas Uncles, who forms a bond with Megan White. They are an unlikely pair but they realize that they must work together if they are going to realize their dreams of winning the mother of all dance battles.
The Wayans family is all over this movie. It was directed by Damien, written by Keenan Ivory, Shawn, Marlon, Craig and Damien and stars, Kim, and newcomer, Damon Wayans Jr. (son of Damon of various movies and the hit show, My Wife and Kids). Of course, the trailer looks ridiculous but it also looks pretty funny. Check it out and tell me what you think.
