Commercial Vidoes on YouTube

One of my ideas for regular posts this year is a run-through of the top commercial videos on YouTube . These are advertisements or videos related to a brand that are popular on the site. Although on first look, this may be harder than it sounds given the lack of them in the most viewed. As the year moves in, we’ll see if this is a practical series ;)

At 43, we have a video of a world record motorcycle jump, all 322ft of it from Robbie Madison. Although the video appears to have been grabbed from ESPN, it’s bought to you by redbullusa.com. No idea what the arrangement is for this distribution. This is one of a whole series of videos about extreme sports, a lifestyle area the brand has made its own.

Next, at 63 on the most watched, is a Happy New Year Video from Samsung Mobile. It’s sponsored, no product details, just lots of people saying Happy New Year. It’s one of 4 that Samsung added about the holidays.

And that’s it for this week, just 2 out of the top 100 that could be regarded as commercial. I’m ignoring music videos and promotional TV clips and will just be focusing on brand driven video
