Connect 360: A Good Reason To Get An Xbox

As much as I’m an Apple fan, the Apple TV never really interested me. At least not that much to purchase one. I didn’t think the $299 or $399 price tag for a device that just streams contents was worth it.
At the same time, I’ve always wanted to get an Xbox 360 but still hesitant to get one. I’m not a hard core gamer so it’s not on my priority list. But I do want one, make no mistake about it.
Now, with Connect360 getting an Xbox is more compelling. The Connect360 software allows you to stream media from your Mac onto a networked Xbox 360. Thus allowing the Xbox to work similar to an Apple TV. Merging streaming content and gaming into one machine.
At $349.99 (as listed in the Xbox site) the 360 is towards the high-end of the spectrum of the Apple TV pricing. There’s the Elite Xbox 360 at $449.99 which is more expensive than the Apple TVs but you get much more features than the Apple TV.
With the Connect360, you maximize both your Xbox and your Mac allowing you to have an all-in-one device. I like keeping my media on my computer and giving the Xbox access to it is great.
Some drawbacks of the Connect360 software is that it doesn’t allow you to play iTunes purchased content that has DRM.
But the pros still outweigh the cons. Once I get an Xbox 360 this will be the first thing I purchase for it and my Mac.
