Consumer Warning: Your Fast Food Is About To Go Up In Price

Even though it’s second quarter profits were reasonably good, McDonald’s is anticipating trouble ahead in the form of possibly rising beef prices. As a result, the dollar menu may not be the “dollar” menu much longer. In fact, reports BloggingStocks, in some markets McDonald’s is already testing a higher price for the double cheeseburger — one of the favorites on the dollar menu.
Of course, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. For far too long, unhealthy food has been too much cheaper than healthy food. And fast food has offered such low prices that “eating out” has been a viable option. Now, with fast food prices likely to inflate, it could mean that consumers turn again to taking the time to plan meals that they can make at home with simple, healthier ingredients.
At least we can hope for that.
