Controls for Resistance: Retribution demonstrated

PlayStation 3 owners aren’t the only ones who’d get a chance to shoot up some Chimeras with the arrival of Resistance 2 on the Blu-ray console later this year. The pint-sized PSP is also getting some alien-busting action with Resistance: Retribution, a third-person shooter that’s slated to hit store shelves in spring 2009.

The video you see above reveals how the game’s controls work. According to Retribution director Chris Reese, the shooter uses the PSP analog stick for movement and face buttons for aiming. It also uses some form of auto-aim, but it’s not clear as to how it works when multiple enemies are involved.

Several weapons would be introduced in Retribution, while old favorites would make a comeback. A cover system is also in place, changing the pace of the franchise’s familiar, faster-paced gameplay.

Thankfully, Retribution would not use regenerative health like other current shooters. Players would have to look for health packs, not sym-bacs because unlike Nathan Hale, the console version’s protagonist, Retribution’s James Grayson isn’t infected.

Indeed, Resistance: Retribution is shaping up to be a keeper on the PSP. Stay tuned for more updates on this game.
