Buy a mac to open files that are not supported on a Mac…hmmmm…..not great advice…

I am a Mac user and not being able to open .wps files (even with Office Mac 2008) is the reason I’m here…

Believe me..smug mac users think they have the best of all worlds, but not so…

I have downloaded transfered WPS files from my windows 98 computer onto my 2007 Windows Vista laptop and they won’t open. How do I open these? I’ve downloaded both of the viewer files and a converterpack. Nothing opens.

I’ve followed the instructions to the letter and still the converter won’t work (running Vista and Office 2007) – just getting random characters. Suspect Vista, it’s caused me no end of problems this year. My current thoughts on Microsoft unprintable.

I tried it all over again. This time I chose run instead of save & was at least able to install the program. But, it doesn’t work. I had a few docs saved as .doc & they opened. No doc that was saved as .wps would open except in Notepad & it was a bunch of figures & emblems~not readable at all.

I saved the 6-9 converter then attempted to open it in order to install it. When I double-clicked on the icon, I get the message: “The installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package”. Anybody got any suggestions?

I assume this program is some sort of joke! No executable file anywhere on the hard drive and no desktop or start menu shortcuts! Just a few DLL’s and Office 2007 still cannot open the file!!! This is appallling! Can MS not support proepr interoperability between their own products for heavens sake!

This works perfectly. If you are having trouble opening some older files or and WPS files this converter will let you open all of them in Word. It is a great find.

I am completely computer illiterate. I just did a random search and found this site and was shocked that in less than 5 min. I could read some old files I had created in works before reformatting my computer. It worked great for me.
