Balanced dietIn these times of weekly price increases, you have to watch all your expenses very closely. A great portion of your grocery budget is for food. If you’re going to spend a lot of money on food, might as well make it nutritious, what makes for a balanced diet, and what keeps you healthy.

This optimizes your food money, saves you from unnecessary future medical expenses, and keeps your Balance Sheet for Living in good shape.

Follow the Food Pyramid. The USDA website (http://www.mypyramid.gov/mypyramid/index.aspx) has My Pyramid Plan and Menu Planner. You enter your age, sex, weight, height, physical activity and it gives you advice on food that’s good for you. You can even download a Food Pyramid poster (http://www.mypyramid.gov/downloads/miniposter.pdf).

Bon appetit!
