Countdown to Mars Opposition

Here’s where all of the inner planets are right now, this minute:

Every time this post gets viewed, the image above will update to show where the planets are in their orbits as of that moment.

As you can see, Earth is approaching Mars and on December 18th, we’ll be the closest we’re going to get to it.

Since this post will age off of the front page as I write more stuff, I’ve duplicated this post as a page that will appear on the sidebar. Check back often to check on our progress.

    Does this mean that all those silly internet messages and emails I have received in the past about earth being the closest ever to Mars and Mars appearing in the sky the size of a basketball will finally be true? LOL!!

    I really like that image above. Thanks for the link to the site. Looks like I now have something else to try out.

    Looking forward to getting some pics of Mars, there is quite a difference between now and December for size so it should be cool.
