Cowboys Poker: Chapter 1

Justin was ready for Vegas. They all were. In fact, during the flight the four men of varying ages rarely talked. Each was so focused all they could do was think about the task at hand and how efficient they would actually be against what they had practiced at home.
Home was Texas. Justin and Dalworth were from Austin, but Matt and Rock were from the East Coast, namely New York and Washington. Rock was the oldest and he was only 32. The rest scattered in their mid to late 20s. Although all relatively youthful, age was not their common bond. Poker was.
In the beginning, none of them knew one another, but each kept seeing the others at poker games. Home games, free bar games, and back room games. Whenever there was a game, it seemed like there was almost always some combination of 2 or more.
Matt introduced himself the wrong way to Rock. He got caught cheating in a cash game at Sal’s Saloon. There are a number of ways to cheat in poker and Matt’s forte was dealing from the bottom of the deck.
Things didn’t look prosperous for him when the 5′11” 245 lb Rock grabbed his left wrist.
