Creating a Partition Volume

Prerequisite

1. Logged-in as administrator
2. Unallocated empty space on a hard disk,
3. Or free space within an extended partition on the hard disk

In case you don’t have unallocated space, you can delete an existing volume (which is painful unless you no longer need the volume) or use a third party program for partitioning your disk.

On to partitioning:

1. Go to Control Panel
2. Click on Administrative Tools
3. Click on Computer Management
4. On the left pane, click on Storage and Disk Management (See image below)

5. Right-click an unallocated region on your hard disk which is denoted by a black color.
6. From the pop-up menu, click New Simple Volume.
7. Follow the wizard that follows after that
