[...] With a 2-1 lead going into the 4th ODI against India, Lara is optimistic about the prospect of a winning series, his first back in charge. “But as I said we’re not taking anything for granted. We set a target, India didn’t get it; we chased a target down today. So they must be a little bit more confused now. Deciding to bat today, I thought, was something against the norm for India, especially looking at their record. So we do have them thinking, which is important … I feel it’s better to get these close results rather than beat a team by a huge margin. It shows the guys what it is to play under that kind of pressure and I think we’re going to learn more from it.” [...]

[...] He must do - it was but a week or so ago that I was airing my confusion over who was playing where and what, and lo and behold, former, well, ex-former-now-present Sri Lankan stalwart Jayasuriya is back in the Sri Lankan test squad. Fortunately, it’s not just me whose confused - it seems most of the Sri Lankan management, and the journalists reporting the story are as well. [...]

[...] Hashim Amla is a welcome addition to the International scene. Surely he was inspired by cricketing genius, the “father of cricket”, W.G. Grace. But if that is true, then it’s going to require a rethink of his religious persuasion. According to John, the figure of God in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, was actually modelled on W.G Grace. Nice find, John. [...]
