Cricket Trivia 3: Hints

eat Cricket, drink Cricket, sleep Cricket

I did it. I outsmarted Google this time. None of the folks are getting the right answer!

But here’s to your help.

So far the following responses have come up.

1. Viv Richards: Close, but not quite it. Had an Indian girlfriend, but he played four World Cups. Our trivia guy played just three.

2. Dave Houghton: Uh, no. I heard this name for the first time!

3. Rick Charlworth: Same as no. 2

4. Hansie Cronje: This is again close, but I’m afraid, the answer is no.

Our guy is from Hansie Cronje’s continent and the India connection is that he has Subcontinental origin.

That should be enough?

  1. you have certainly made head spinning with this trivia…

  2. Scorpicity says:

    klusener or nicki guerro

  3. Bas says:

Its not the Kenyan Aasif Karim, is it?

  4. Aashrey says:

    Bas is right.
It’s Aasif Karim. He played the Davis Cup tennis, and represented Kenya in cricket.
    Good on you, Bas.

  5. Dinnie says:

Was Karim the renaissance man of Kenya cricket?

    They play cricket in Kenya?

  6. Aashrey says:

Yeah, apparently they reached the semi finals of a world cup too. Weird.

  7. Dinnie says:

    Cool.

You have one more day, guys.

  8. Asif Karim seems to be the right answer as he fits to every respect clue you have given out there. He played three world cup tournaments and captained Kenya in one world cup tournament. Karim also led Kenya’s Davis Cup tennis team. His impressive performance helped Kenya to reach the semi final of 2003 world cup and he is considered to be perhaps the best ever spinner played for Kenya.

Moreover, he has an Indian connection too. His father, Yusuf Karim, was born in Mumbai and moved to Mombasa, a coastal area of Kenya. His father also represented Kenya in cricket as well as in tennis.

  9. ©hinaman says:

    Ali Hassimshah Omarshah? Zimbabwe

The first coloured player in the Zimbabwe team.
Not sure if he captained, though.

  10. Dinnie says:

    Um, no, Chinaman.

Thanks for playing all. The answer is up.
