In this series, I have written two other article to help you with turning your passion into a business. The first was entitled “Passion to Business, Can You Do It?” which dealt with turning your passion into a business. The second was entitled “Next Steps After Creating Your Business” covered the topic of what to do after you have created your business.

In this article, I and Jerrilynn Thomas of WomenPartner International will share with you how to take your business to the next level by cross-marketing with other business owners. In an interview with Jerrilynn that I held on Blellow.com, she shared that…

When asked for examples of companies who have or can cross-market together, Jerrilynn shared that…

A key concern that some business owners may have is if they have to give up a lot to get a return on investing in cross-marketing. Jerrilynn communicated that…

With all of this in mind, I wanted to share a to-do list that you can use in helping you determine a “best-fit” for your cross-mareketing partners. See the list below:

  • Assess how you want to cross-market with other businesses.
  • Research and determine the “best-fit” for the type of business you should cross-market with (checkout the article “The Secrets of Cross-Promotion” by Stephanie L Gruner for INC.com).
  • Look at other successful cross-marketing partnerships for examples on how to do it (Read “Cross Marketing Your Business” for more details).
  • When you find cross-marketing partners, create a detailed plan of implementation that all will follow
  • Make sure to have an agreement in place that you have documented so that everyone will know their expections.
  • Understand what you need and be able to communicate it to your potential cross-marketing partners.
  • Keep track or create a way to monitor the success of your cross-marketing efforts.

Can you think of other things that a business owner would need to include in order to determine whether they should cross-market and who they should do it with? Then please feel free to share your thoughts below.
