Cuban’s Still After The Cubs

Here’s my obligatory MLB post for the week.
Mark Cuban is still after the Chicago Cubs.
He’s submitted a bid to participate in the second round of proposals. The bids average above $1 billion. That’s some serious green. Be nice to have that kind of money to throw around. Instead of considering buying a flat screen HDTV, you’d be considering purchasing a professional sports team or an Island home in Dubai.
Personally, I think Cuban is a great owner. He’s done an amazing job with the Dallas Mavericks. They used to be one of the more boring teams in the NBA. Cuban made them interesting again. He made them watchable and marketable. Now, if could only make them do well in the playoffs he’d be golden! I kid, I kid.
Seriously though, I think Cuban could bring a lot to the Cubs. They are already marketable but he’s got the ability to bring them up to Red Sox and Yankee status. Bring a little central flavor into the east domination of the league. It will be interesting to see how this thing plays out.
