Cuppy’s Coffee Franchise, Elite Manufacturing: More Angry Allegations

March 22, 2008 by Sean Kelly

(FranchisePick.Com) Yet another allegation has been levelled against two Medina Enterprises companies, Cuppy’s Coffee and Elite Manufacturing, and executives Robert “Morg” Morgan, Doug Hibbing, and Brian Hayes. Angie, from Clever, Missouri, claims that she mortgaged her home to give a $40,900 refundable deposit for a Cuppy’s Coffee franchise. When she was unable to obtain financing, the company was unable or unwilling to return her money. This brings the list of recent Cuppy’s Coffee complaints posted on FranchisePick.com or Rip-Off Report to 13.

Similar allegations were levelled against Cuppy’s Coffee predecessor, Java Jo’z. Franchise industry association AAFD helped Cuppy’s Coffee restore trust by awarding by awarding it a fair franchising award for the wording of its franchise agreement.

I just want to let everyone I know exactly what kind of crisis these two companies have put my family in.
We were unable to obtain financing and close to a year later this is where I am at:
1. They owe us 40,900. (money that I had to MORTGAGE my home for).
2. My house is near forclosure because I now cant pay my bills because of the amount of interest I am paying in order to provide Elite Manufacturing and Cuppys Coffee (one in the same)an INTEREST FREE loan!
3. These people are putting me, my BABY, and my husband out on the streets while WE pay everyones wages!
4. We are in financial ruin so that Cuppys can pride themselves on their website about how they are now up to 100 full time employees!
5. I hope they can all sleep better at night knowing that in the next month my family and I will have no home because they are all STEALING peoples money.
6. MORG MORGAN and DOUG HIBBINGS and BRIAN HAYES….
How would you feel if you could not feed your newborn because someone was taking food from his mouth?? How would you feel if you were put out on the streets to find a home because someone was RIPPING you off. How would you feel if your children and wives were unable to even as much as afford to go to a doctor if they were sick! Think about it because thats were MY life is now! What ever happend to contracts??? I held up my end of the deal! I did my do dillegence! The way you people operate is illegal!
I am willing to band together with anyone that wants to band with me to get these crooks put away! They have ruined way more lives than mine and are STILL getting away with it.
I hope this post helps other families and noone else is put in this position.
Angie Clever, Missouri

Looking for other victims of Cuppy’s to get a group lawsuit together. I am livid and sick as I continue to read “our” story over and over again. Got in contact with others who are willing to bring action against Elite, Cuppy’s, Specialty Coffee and Medina as well as each person individually. I can only pray that every day they earn another dollar that $.36 would be paying me back. I do not think that they believed so many of us would talk.

I would urge anyone who has a current or past complaint or refund request with Cuppy’s Coffee, Java Jo’z, Elite Manufacturing, Medina Enterprises, or other related entities to contact attorney Michael Webster. Michael Webster is a frequent contributor here, on BlueMauMau.org and publishes his own franchise and anti-fraud blog at http://www.bizop.ca. He is also on the standards committee of the AAFD. He is coordinating the numerous complaints from people who are seeking refunds from Cuppy’s/Elite. Even if you have retained your own attorney, you should coordinate with Michael and the others. You will have more clout as a group, and Michael can advise you on a few key points specific to this situation.

Did any of you ever hear of Supreme Building Technologies?
This is a “vendor” of Elite Mfgr in Angola, Indiana?
    Check out:
    http://www.ai.org/newsroom.htm?detailContent=146_12814.htm&backEnabled=true
They have the same address in Angola, IN as Elite.
    I’m confused

Supreme Building Tech, has begun running Elite, although I believe that Medina, Cuppy’s still owns them. It is another way to try and confuse everybody.

  5. Charles H. says:

Cuppy’s Cffee and More AND Elite Manufacturing are fraudulent crooks. All of the other’s comments about them ARE TRUE. They are running an internet scam. They take people’s money and will not refund your deposit as they should per their own contract. Why government agencies, FTC, FBI, etc. are not getting envolved is a mistery. Even the Attorney General in Florida has been contacted by me and has gotten me know where. Cuppy’s and Elite are crooks. DO NOT SEND THEM MONEY OR DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM! BEWARE ALL!! They take your deposit and will not willingly give it back. Oh, they send you an agreement alright. It protects you in NO WAY. And as I have learned, even after signing an agreement with them to get your deposit back, they are not sending some people’s money back. The contract agreement they send you is worthless. I hope all the people at Cuppy’s and Elite eventually go to jail, as that is where they belong. If anyone has gotten all their deposit back, let me know how you did it. Even my attorney is getting a run around by them and their attorney’s. Cuppy’s and Elite are running an illegal scam and may be associated with underworld ties. Beware all of these two companies.
