I know hardly anyone has blogged about it today, but we wouldn’t be worthy of Red Sox Nation membership if we didn’t spread the good news: The Fabulous Number 38 announced on his blog today that he’s inked a one-year, $8M deal with the—we were waiting for an excuse to mention this again—2007 World Series Champions.
*Does an SNL-style cheerleader cheer, tries a celebratory cartwheel before realizing she hasn’t done one in 15 years, and slaps a little sense into herself before settling down at the keyboard again*
Schilling is, we think, destined for greatness in Red Sox lore. Here’s a quote from his post today sure to give all his Beantown supporters the warm-and-fuzzies:
“This is where we [Curt and his wife, Shonda] want our career to come to a close. This city, this team. This is where we want to retire, raise our kids, and walk away. We got it, all of it, and more.”
Group hug! Group hug! Ok, that’s enough. *Pushes away lingering huggers* Affection threatens to melt our icy demeanor.
If only we could persuade Schilling to swing by the condo and have a shot of vodka with us tonight before he heads off to that charity event up the road . . . Sigh, we’ll just have to down some Ultimat for him.
