Customers Cash In On Denny’s Free Grand Slams

From all accounts, most of the commercials aired during Super Bowl XLIII were forgettable. Many businesses will never be able to totally measure the impact of Super Bowl ads on their sales, but Denny’s already knows: ZERO!
Let me clarify. Revenue from one particular menu item will be zero for a few hours today. Take a look at Denny’s Super Bowl commercial:
Denny’s (Ticker: DENN) is offering a free “Grand Slam” breakfast to restaurant patrons between 6 PM and 2 AM. So far it looks like the promotion is a big hit.
According to USAToday, there were lines outside of Denny’s locations in Dallas and Fresno, as well as Dayton, Ohio and Treasure Valley, Idaho.
And if the line is too long they give you a rain check for use within the next ten days! I am not sure if this part is nationwide, but I saw this story on the Philadelphia, PA area news at noon.
BTW – beverages and tips are not included. Beverages provide restaurants with a huge margin. The last time I went out for breakfast a glass of milk was $1.99!
According to MSN Money, Denny’s expects 2 million people to partake today. The company’s stock briefly rose above the $2 per share mark and remains up about 2 percent at mid-day.
