“Daisy Fuentes Pilates” For Wii

Before I start ranting, I’d like to say that I really love the Nintendo Wii’s emphasis on health and fitness and I find many of the games really helpful and fun.  I do think, however, that there is a point where low-quality, unnecessary games are oversaturating the market and Daisy Fuentes Pilates, which will be released on August 4, 2009, might prove to be a perfect example.daisy fuentes pilates

Just like with fitness DVDs, it seems like any celebrity who is able to walk feels like they need to contribute to the market.  People are always going to struggle with weight problems so exercise DVDs are always going to be in demand.  That doesn’t mean that we need one from anyone who can afford to rent a fitness studio for an hour.

Daisy Fuentes is not a Pilates expert.  She has done Pilates and actually used to promote Winsor Pilates since Mari Winsor was her trainer.  In fact, Daisy credits Mari with changing her “body and her life” so if anyone should have a Pilates game it should be Mari but I digress…

If you are interested in purchasing Daisy Fuentes Pilates, I do have some details for you.  It is the first interactive Pilates workout for the Wii and it is built around 10 core-strengthening Pilates exercises.  Players can choose from five pre-set routines or they can customize up to five of their own.

Although I’ve always found Pilates difficult, it does claim to be designed to accommodate people of all skill levels.  The game provides feedback by making use of the Wii Remote and the Balance Board (option).

For all my complaining, this could be a very good game so I really shouldn’t judge it before it’s even released.  I do think, however, that these fitness games are getting out of hand.  It seems like a new one is being released every day.
