Two-time major champion John Daly plans to return to the PGA Tour in three weeks for the St. Jude Championship and U.S. Open qualifying. Daly was suspended from the PGA Tour for six months back in November following a series of negative incidents.
During his time off from the Tour, he hasn’t been out of golf altogether. He has played in eight tournaments overseas and tied for second place in the Italian Open. Daly didn’t feel that he deserved to be suspended, but he’s sure to be glad to be reinstated.

“He’s been working on his game, working on trying to get his life together off the course,” his agent, Bud Martin of SFX Sports told ESPN on Monday. “He’s had some signs of some good golf in Europe, and from talking to him on the telephone, I would say he sounds as good and as optimistic and is in as good of a place as I heard from him in 20 years.”
Daly will look like a different man when he returns to the PGA Tour. He had lap-band weight loss surgery in February and is said to have lost 50 pounds in the last three months.
The St. Jude Championship takes place on June 11-14, 2009 in Memphis, Tenn., near Daly’s home.
