Darren McFadden to Undergo Knee Surgery

Darren McFadden hasn’t been very good this season. But things have gone from bad to worse for McFadden. The fourth overall pick of the 2008 NFL Draft needs knee surgery to fix torn knee cartilage. McFadden will be out at least the next two weeks.

On the season, McFadden has 145 rushing yards, 53 receiving yards and one touchdown. His yards per carry of 3.1 yards is a very underwhelming number for the Raiders.

Offensively, the Raiders have simply been horrible. JaMarcus Russell has a quarterback rating of 42.4. He’s completing 39.8% of his passes and has one touchdown to go with four interceptions. The 6-foot-6, 260-pound quarterback couldn’t play much worse if he tried.

To replace McFadden, the Raiders will likely turn to the tandem of Justin Fargas and Michael Bush. Fargas and Bush both had success last season, so there’s a chance that they can fill in for McFadden adequately. But, that said, Oakland’s problems run much deeper.
