Davenport and Roddick not playing the French Open

A big name and a used-to-be big name have already gone on record saying they won’t be competing at the French Open. Lindsay Davenport and Andy Roddick are scratches for the Grand Slam that begins Sunday.

Roddick withdrew earlier this week with a right shoulder injury. He exited the Rome Masters 10 days ago with that injury and skipped Hamburg as well.

Davenport only cited “personal reasons” for her premature exit from the only Grand Slam singles title she hasn’t won.

I know I’ve said it before, but I can’t wait until the day I can call up my boss and tell him I won’t be coming in to work for two weeks because of “personal reasons.” Yeah…yeah – I know. Being a professional athlete is a totally different scenario, but still – I have a point.
