All good things must come to an end, I guess. David Beckham has announced that he and Pepsi are no longer affiliated.
***sniff snifff***
Okay, I admit, I LOVED the David Beckham commercials with Pepsi. Loved the creativity and variety of them. David himself said, “I have nothing but good memories of my association with Pepsi. I’ve played a gladiator, a cowboy, a surfer, and worked alongside Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez as well as some of the biggest names in world football.”
I think the Pepsi commercials showed us that David would be great in a little feature flick. (Or perhaps they just showed me that!)
Anywho, this little “breakup” with Pepsi seems very amicable. They were together TEN YEARS though so I’m sure David is grieving the loss a little bit. At least he has the warmth of his loving wife Victoria to help him out. (She won’t be smiling, but she’ll be supportive. She might even give him a hug. Who knows.)
To commemorate the end of the Beckham/Pepsi era, here are my favorite commercials featuring the hunky soccer dude.
This one showed Beckham walking to the locker room and drinking a Pepsi. A little boy follows him and then asks for his shirt. It’s a touching scene, and then turns to humor as the kid takes the shirt, wipes off the can of Pepsi, and gives the shirt back. It’s funny and sweet – how could we resist?
This commercial shows Beckham as part of a fuse ball game. Haven’t we all wondered what it would be like to be one of the little fuse ball dudes? After a few beers? When we’ve been really bored?
This is the infamous surfing commercial, with some very cool scenes of Beckham surfing and playing soccer. (With a little help from some special effects, of course.)
This commercial, however, has to the best one ever. It features Beckham with Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez. The commercial just begs for a J-Lo and Beyonce team up somehow, either in a music video, duet, or movie. (Wouldn’t that be great.) Beckham really isn’t even a factor in this commerical – it’s all about the ladies!
