David Garrard in College

This weekend is thought by many to be the most exciting weekend in football. Of course, there aren’t any college games going on – it is all about the NFL playoffs. (*Insert debate about college ball needing a playoff system here*) I thought it would be fun to look back on the top 8 teams’ quarterbacks. What were they like in college?
David Garrard, Jacksonville
As a red-shirt freshman, Garrard took over the starting quarterback position at East Carolina in 1998. His junior season, the team ended with an 8-4 record, with Garrard ending the final game with two amazing touchdowns. His senior year, their record was a bit mediocre at 6-6. The team played in the GMAC Bowl, and ironically, he was pitted against Byron Leftwich of Marshall. Leftwich and Garrard later competed for the Jacksonvill QB position, and although Marshall won the won game 64-61 in double overtime (the highest bowl game score in history), Garrard was given the NFL QB position.
