Even I’m above that title, but I used it anyway. Sue me.
Running seems to be great for every part of your body except for your feet. Missing nails, bloody blisters, dry skin- none of its very cute. That is, unless you follow this runner’s regimine to pamper your piggies.
While most of it seems unavoidable, there is one thing you can prevent: foot odor.
Here are a few tips for preventing foot funk:
- Wash daily with warm water, soap and a wash cloth or brush. Dry thoroughly.
- Use over the counter foot powder to absorb sweat and prevent what I like to call Trench Foot.
- Opt for shoes made of natural materials that allow your feet to breathe, like leather.
- Wear cotton or wool socks instead of nylon: they absorb sweat better.
If you have sever problems with sweating, you may have a condition call hyperhidrosis. Your doctor can suggest treatments for this condition.

Great tips!! I have to be careful with my feet, since I’m never OFF of them with my busy schedule, haha :-)
Good tips. Running usually isn’t so good for the knees, either, is it?
I’m all about the wool socks. In the winter I also try to put lotion on my feet before socking up. I still have pretty gross feet, though.
Stinky feet….ewwww.
Hey thanks for the link!
Thank goodness I don’t have foot odor. I would just diiiiiie!
Funny you should bring this up! Since doing Karate for this month’s Experiment, I’ve discovered that the worst part isn’t the knuckle push-ups – it’s me and all the gym buddies peeling off our sweaty shoes and socks in a tiny crowded room:)
Breathable shoes = good!
