The Dead or Alive Online site has gone live and there are more info on Dead or Alive Online, DOA Online, which will be developed for the PC platform instead of Xbox 360 or PS3. China’s largest online company, Shanda Interactive Entertainment Limited or Shanda for short, has gone into agreement with old-time Japanese game developer, TECMO, to develop the online version of the widely popular Dead or Alive franchise.

TECMO own Lievo Studio, not Team NINJA Studio, will be in charge in developing the game while Shanda will provide the necessary online infrastructure to allow the game to start its run (for money) in China, Hong Kong and Macao (I wonder why there’s no Taiwan) before next year August Beijing Summer Olympics 2008. The game will first release in China, then all over the world. We can be sure that DOA Online will debut in Chinese.

A look at Dead or Alive Online website reveals that Kasumi, Ayane, Hitomi, Helena, Lei Fang and Tina are going to show off their stunning bodies once more. Tornaments will be held so that players (fighters) can level up with experience and in-game currency after finishing the tournaments or fights. Friends can group together to form “unity”, a sort of clan that can thrash other clans to gain supremacy. Single and group ladders or rankings are expected.

Once players have accumulated enough cash and experience, they can hold their own tournamets and attract more players or fighting stars to join their tournaments or unity. In turn, the organizers of the tournaments can level up much faster. Is like there’s a virtual economy in this Dead or Alive online version, not present in other Dead or Alive games.

There’s even a relationship element in which characters can develop friendship, master-disciple relationship and of course, the inevitable enmity. These relationships will create communities and it’s like a Dead or Alive Web 2.0 if you ask me.

Is time to fight until you are dead…or alive once more but now on the PC.
