Dealers Await Clunkers Rebate Checks

While auto dealers across the country have certainly appreciated the influx of customers as part of the savings to be had in the Cash for Clunkers program, several dealers have expressed concern over the amount of time the government is taking to issue the rebate checks. However, Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood has reassured dealers across America, making it clear that dealers will be reimbursed.

Skepticism concerning the program has led several auto dealers to not even participate, while others have questioned whether or not they should continue with the program given the weakness of the economy and the need for cash in the present, not in the future. Despite the government’s promises to pay back the money, several dealers just cannot afford paying up to $4,500 out of pocket for those customers who fulfill the requirements of the program.

Even dealers fully participating in the program have complained about the time it takes to file a reimbursement claim, which can take up to an hour for each claim. Technical errors and a massive backlog have prevented many dealers from even filing a large portion of their claim, let alone from receiving their rebate checks.

Good…, as they say, all good things come to an end. Actually, this could be considered a BAD thing b/c it’s CRAZY, we are giving people money to live more vicariously and lavishly than before all this economical bust took place? What are we doing? Spoiling every single last American? Let’s learn to live in moderation, then we wouldn’t have so much debt…Well, the fish sticks from the head..so the head is the While House…right?
