Please stop referring to Twitter as “a big IM conversation.”

The reason Twitter works as a networking platform is because it’s like a big chat room, or even a networking event. Some people you know better than others, sometimes it’s more fun to listen to two other people talking, and every once in a while you strike up a direct conversation with an individual.

It’s a beautiful networking tool, and you should consider using it.
