According to the union for the pilots that work for Delta Air Lines, the company is looking to trim the number of pilots it employs. For the time being, the good news is that Delta doesn’t plan to fire any pilots. Instead, the company will offer incentives to have pilots resign from their current jobs.
Delta, like almost ever other airline in existence in the United States, is struggling financially. With less individuals flying, their revenue continues to struggle. Perhaps even more damaging is the fact that businesses are spending less on business travel. As a result, airlines are continuously looking for ways to shed overhead.
Although there are no concrete numbers of how many pilots Delta wants to shed, the company will reportedly be offering severance pay and a variety of other benefits. Estimates have Delta employing more than 10,000 pilots at the moment.
