DemoCamp9: What Happened?

So, I finally made it to a DemoCamp in Toronto last night. It was, well….interesting. Lots of really smart people talking about things such as SmallTalk (an obscure programming language) and Emacs (a flexible text editor). To be honest, most of it was out of my league but, then again, I’m not a programmer. I did manage to chat with ConceptShare co-founders Bernie Aho and Scott Brooks, who gave me a quick demo of their design collaboration tool. It’s one of those products where you immediately say, "Yeah, I definitely get it" because it provides a group of people with an easy way to exchange ideas (including the ability to leave public notes) about anything from a new product to a new Web site. The Web-based service will likely move from private beta to a public beta this month. One of the key strategic decisions will be pricing given free is the current pricing default within the Web 2.0 landscape. Brooks said the service will likely be sold on a monthly subscription basis. What from I can tell, ConceptShare should be a hit within the design community.
