Description Tags And Your Site

Aside from the title tag, you should also be familiar with the description tag. This tag would greatly help your site to rank.

When writing the description tag, keep in mind that you should only use a hundred to two hundred characters. Of course, despite the short number of characters that you could only use, make sure that you are able to describe just what your website is all about. One or two sentences should do. The shorter and the clearer you write your description tag, the better it would work. Aside from helping your site rank, the description tag would also help your readers know just what they should expect to find once they go ahead and browse through your site.

In case you’re thinking that you could go over the 200 characters maximum, it would be wise not to go ahead with that. See, there are search engines which cut description tags that are longer than 200 characters. You would surely not want to have a truncated description tag now, would you?
