Desperation Plea for Windows XP

InfoWorld has FedEx’d their final and probably desperation plea to Steve Ballmer on saving Windows XP in the form of a USB containing more than 210,000 users who want to extend the life of the operating system.

In an excerpt of the letter:

Dear Steve,

On January 2, 2008, InfoWorld launched the Save Windows XP campaign. As of June 27 at 2:00 PM Pacific Time, we have gathered 210,562 signatures from passionate users who demand the right to purchase Windows XP after June 30, the deadline beyond which Microsoft has said it will no longer license Windows XP through most sales channels. The Save Windows XP petition is enclosed as a CSV file.

InfoWorld contends that there might be a small chance that Microsoft would change their mind; but I do not believe so. Extending XP is like putting up a white flag on Vista. It would look like Microsoft is accepting the fact that Vista is inferior to XP.
