Detroit Tigers Get Aubrey Huff

The Detroit Tigers are attempting to hold off the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central. To add another big bat to their lineup, the Tigers have acquired Aubrey Huff from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for minor leaguer Brett Jacobson.

With the Tigers, Huff will likely play multiple positions including first base, third base and left field. He will also likely see action as a designated hitter for Detroit.

While with the Orioles, Huff was hitting .253 with 13 homers, 72 RBIs and 51 runs. Though his stats are down from last year (.304/32/108/96), Huff was still regarded as one of the better hitters on the market.

Considering he has spent the majority of his career with the Tampa Bay Rays and the Orioles, Huff doesn’t exactly have a lot of experience playing for a winner. The Tigers are hoping he can adapt quickly and help their squad to the postseason.

Currently, the Tigers are 62-55 and have a two-game lead over the White Sox.
