The headline is a little misleading. Karo Parisyan tested positive for three different types of pain medications before his UFC 94 fight. He tested positive for Hydrocodone (Vicodin), Hydromorphone (Dilaudid) and Oxymorphone (Opana) prior to his fight with Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 94, where he won by split decision.
Parisyan said that he disclosed to the testing party all prescribed medications that he was taking prior to being tested. Parisyan has had back problems that kept him out of the octagon for UFC 88 and has suffered from anxiety attacks as well.
These are banned substances by the UFC and action such as a suspension may be implemented on Parisyan. If these are banned substances then I think something should have been done prior to letting Parisyan fight if he disclosed that he was prescribed and using these pain meds. Parisyan will have a chance to state his case to the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
