Digg Clone Sends Nastygram to Digg Clone. Really.

SuperGu, a clone of Digg clone Pligg, has sent a cease and desist letter to Pligg. Yes, you read that right. No, I’m not kidding.

Among the complaints: SuperGu is claiming ownership to ajax effects, sidebars, login boxes, “read more” links, navigation tabs, the expression “Powered by”, tags, the RSS icon and other common web design elements and layouts.

Wow. By that ludicrous claim, they could sue, well, everybody.

Here’s the best part: SuperGu founder James Phelps was caught hiring a developer to secretly copy the very template he claims Pligg stole. Now there’s a new business model: “copy and sue”.

It never ceases to amaze me what ridiculous threats some people think they can get away with. It’s underhanded losers like this Phelps guy who need to be eradicated from the emerging Earth. Feel free to DDoS this n00b at SuperGu.com or JamesPhelps.com. Better yet, leave hateful messages at 1-800-922-5478.

It is a very complicated issue we need to tackle with our new start-up Profigg.com We know it takes time to compete with big players , but we can do it.
