Discipline and Persistence for Freelance Writing Success

Self-discipline has sort of an ugly reputation. It conjures up pictures of struggle and pain. But there is absolutely no way to become successful as a freelance writer until you develop some sort of discipline about your writing. Unless you get words on paper (or screen) in a regular and, yes, disciplined fashion, you haven’t got a chance.
The trick is to figure out what works for you. There’s no point in adopting my discipline… we’re not alike. Your approach to writing regularly will, and should, look quite different than mine.
It often takes some time and experimentation to develop a discipline around your writing… persist until you succeed, then expect changes.
