Do You Have A Business Plan?

Do you have a plan for your small business? Many entrepreneurs don’t have a business plan when they start out. They just wing it. While this works for some, it’s really not a good idea for the long term. You should develop a business plan to help guide you in your business direction, kind of like a road map for your business.

Another good reason to have a business plan in place? If you need a loan or investors for your small business lenders will probably want to see a plan for your small business to see where you’re going. They’ll also be interested in what your projections are for the business.

So what is included in a business plan? Here are some of the basics you should include.

  • A business plan lays out what your business goals are.
  • It also talks about what products or services you will be offering, and why you think people will buy these things from you.
  • A plan for employees and staffing if you plan to have people working for you.
  • You should also include operating information, for example if you’re manufacturing a product, how do you plan to manufacture it?
  • Your business marketing or sales plan, and what part of the market you plan to serve.
  • Your business plan should also include financial information including your expenses, capital expenditures, and cash flow projections.

Your business plan isn’t written in stone, and you can make adjustments to it as you go, but it’s good to have a plan in place so you can compare it to your actual situation and keep your business on track.
