Do you have a passion for your business? It can be hard to run your business if you loose your passion for it. What do you need to have passion for to run a small business?

- Make sure you have some passion to begin with. You have to want to make your business succeed. You can’t go into running a business if you don’t feel passionately about the outcome. A business is difficult enough to get off the ground, if you don’t have the drive to get it off the ground you’re behind from the start.
- You have to enjoy working with your customers, and you need to want them to be happy. If you are not passionate about pleasing your customers it will show. It will show in your customer service, it will also show up in customer satisfaction.
- If you’re not sure if a small business is for you, or if you will have a passion for it, find out more about the business you want to start. Talk to other business owners, and visit trade shows to learn more about your chosen industry.
How do you keep that passion once your small business is up and running? What if you lose your passion?
- Sometimes it helps to take a little break, go on vacation or a long weekend. Put your mind on other things and enjoy yourself.
- Change up your products and offer something new.
- Go back to the basics and take a look at your goals and business plans. Where are you at compared to the plan, and what do you need to do to stay on track.
- Join a local business group, or network with others in your industry.

If you don’t have passion for what you are launching…then stick with your current job working for someone else. Don’t even think about starting a business if you are merely doing this as an escape from working for someone else.
Under most circumstances, anyone can go through the motions of working without passion…but once you start your own business, if it isn’t something that your are fully invested in (moreso emotionally then financially….though in my case it is both…gulp) you are destined to stumble…if not fail. Passion helps you see the big picture but also helps to see small victories and periodic stumbles for what they are…merely part of the bigger picture.
