Do You Need A Job?

My husband needs a job? How in the world do you go from that realization – “That My Husband Needs a Job?” - to being on CNN? That is exactly happened to Micheal Sterns. His wife said “my husband needs a job!” And somewhere between frustration and creativity, she developed ahusband website and within 48 hours or so, her husband Michael Sterns was being interviewed on CNN! That is the power of being intentional. That is the power of being creative. That is the power of taking action. Does he have a job yet? Nope, but he is well on his way!

What can you do to take action in your job search? Frustration may have already set in for you. But you are not stuck and you are not without options. What can you do? I have seen sandwich boards hanging on people. I have seen websites, Federal Express packages sent directly to the CEO, blogs developed – all in the name of finding employment.

Joel Freeman wrote an excellent book called, If Nobody Loves You, Create the Demand. I wrote about it back in September of last year. I actually wrote about the title. I love it! If nobody loves you, you are responsible for creating the demand for you. If you are as good as you think you are, than figure out a way to create a demand for you with an employer. Where there is a will, there is a way. Ask Michael Stern’s wife. She was frustrated and out of it, out her frustration, she has created some noise around her husband. I didn’t know about him. I missed his debut on CNN. But somehow his story came across my path yesterday and I am writing about him tonight. What can you do to get that kind of exposure? I don’t have all of the answers for you. My point tonight is to get you thinking about what you can do so that rather than being frustrated about your job search, you become motivated to do something about it. Think about it. What could you do that would be creative, out of the box, and net you the results you are looking for from your job search? Scroll down and leave me a note. I want to know. I would like to hear from some of you out there who read my blog every day. What could you do?

For many job seekers, inaction has brought very few results. The phone is not ringing, no interviews are scheduled. And there is very little networking going on. Why? Frustration, hopelessness for some has set in. Anger, despair, confusion about the current state of affairs. All of those feelings may very well be valid but not one of them will get you a job offer.
