Do you track the performance of your small business website? Do you know how much traffic you receive each day, each week, or each month? Do you know where your website traffic comes from, or what pages they look at while they’re there? If visitors got there through a search do you know what search terms they used? Or what your pagerank is? If you don’t you definitely should.

There are places where you can find all this information out. A simple site counter can tell you how much traffic you’re receiving. If you want to know more here are a few of my tools I like to use. All of these tools are free and easy to use.
- Google Analytics is one of my favorite tools. Just insert a small bit of code into the body of your website or blog, and you can get a wealth of information. Google Analytics can tell you how much traffic you’re receiving, and where that traffic is coming from. It can also tell you what people are viewing, and what search terms got them there among other things.
- Another one of my favorite tools for tracking website performance is the SEO toolbar and Rankchecker. It installs a tiny icon in the lower right corner of your browser if you use Mozilla-Firefox. The tool tells you the pagerank of every web page you’re on. You can also toggle the SEO information on and off, to let you know what links are no follow, and other information like where the web page has been bookmarked. Handy information to know about your own website, and your competitors.
- Yahoo! has it own analytics tool, I haven’t given it a try, but it looks like it would be a great option.
